AT HOTEL CA'L BISBE IN SÓLLER

The building in which Hotel Ca’l Bisbe is located was the residence of Bishop Nadal at the start of the 19th Century. Born in Sóller, Bishop Nadal was a very important person on the island. That's why we decided to commemorate the legacy of this distinguished figure (Bisbe in Catalan means bishop), whilst offering the quality, comfort and personal service demanded by the future. The modern refurbishment work undertaken in recent years includes a spacious lobby with a lift, a Bar/Lounge and an exclusive dining room located in the olive press, where the olives used to produce oil were traditionally pressed.

BISHOP NADAL
Illustrious son of Sóller

Bernat Nadal, born in Sóller on 5 April 1745. He entered the Franciscan Convent and from 1761 onwards served as a teacher at the School of La Sapiéncia, where he acquired great knowledge in the field of humanities, in particular languages. In 1777, the Bishop of Mallorca offered him the position of Director at the Office of Interpretation of Languages under the Secretary of State in Madrid. He occupied a number of important positions in Madrid, before returning to Mallorca in 1975 as the Bishop of the island. Amongst his achievements, worth particular note was his support for the introduction of the 1812 Constitution, abolished two years later by King Fernando VII. Bernat Nadal died in Palma in 1818 at the age of 72.

Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site
DISCOVER THE TRAMUNTANA MOUNTAIN RANGE
The Tramuntana mountain range is one of the island's best kept secrets. Its beauty and natural diversity, including its native plant and animal species, saw the area being appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. The mountain range's cultural heritage comprises pathways, terraces, walls and traditional buildings made using dry stone, built by man and respected by nature.
Amongst the area's religious heritage, the Lluc Sanctuary, a famous pilgrimage site, is worth particular mention. Amongst the native species you can spot in the Tramuntana mountain range is the Majorcan midwife toad. Furthermore, some landscapes have been protected on account of their obvious ecological value, such as Sa Dragonera Natural Park, Torrent de Pareis and Fonts Ufanes.
The Restaurant
SA TAFONA

The hotel's restaurant is located in the olive press, traditionally used to make oil; in fact, a number of old presses and other objects associated with the production of oil are still on display today.

At the restaurant at Hotel Ca’l Bisbe, guests can sample typical Mallorcan products and Mediterranean cuisine, which are ever present in our chef's creations. Enjoy a relaxed setting on our spacious terrace, whether at breakfast or when dining at the restaurant, with unrivalled views over the Tramuntana mountain range.
